TAXATION, TRUST AND ESTATES

Effective personal, tax and estate planning and execution are the goals toward which we strive in representing our clients in this important area of our practice. We recognize that every matter entrusted to us by a person or a business has many varied effects on the person's life and the lives of those around him or her.

A key facet of this practice area is preventive law. Emphasis is given to counseling as a means of avoiding protracted litigation and minimizing exposures and risks. Often it is possible to amicably achieve a client's financial and personal goals without recourse to the courts or to arbitration.

As advisors, counselors and advocates, our attorneys bring with them experience gained over years of private practice, while working in the IRS, New York State appellate courts, Surrogate's Court, Family Court, Criminal Court, other firms and other endeavors. They have served as prosecutors; arbitrators; guardians; receivers; counsel to trusts; counsel to estates and executors; directors of and counsel to cooperative apartment corporations and condominium boards; and counsel to private foundations and not for profit entities. Our attorneys have represented clients in IRS administrative proceedings, audits and civil and criminal investigations, tax court and appellate proceedings, appeals to higher courts and administrative bodies, employment, child custody, guardianship, separation and divorce, contested estate, adoption, sale of private residence, home construction, libel, slander and tort cases.
