HISTORY

Thomas Kane founded the firm in 1930 in offices located at 270 Broadway in lower Manhattan. Sid Kessler joined Thomas Kane in the late 1930s as an associate and then immediately following World War II in 1946 as a partner. The year 1946 was an exciting time with the exuberance of the post-war period and the determination of the country to commit itself to business and commerce. Recognizing this spirit, the original founders of the firm focused on meeting the legal needs of small and emerging businesses and providing exceptional legal services. The firm has grown steadily since 1930, taking on more partners, associates and counsel and moving its offices throughout lower and mid-town Manhattan to where it is currently located at 1350 Avenue of the Americas (at 55th Street) in mid-town Manhattan.

Although the firm has grown significantly since 1930 and our client base now includes large publicly-held and significantly sized private companies, the firm has not lost sight of the attributes that have allowed it to succeed and prosper throughout the years. Kane Kessler remains committed to providing sophisticated, innovative and high quality legal services to clients of all sizes without abandoning the traits of personal service and attention upon which the firm was founded over 70 years ago.
